Why Andy is Running

Boise schools are one of our community’s greatest strengths. But the district faces important decisions about enrollment, facilities, staffing, and long-term finances.

Andy is running because this moment calls for proven experience, thoughtful planning, and a clear focus on students.

During his prior service on the Board, Andy never missed a meeting, visited every school in the district, served on the Facilities, Governance, and Communications committees, and helped establish the Student Advisory Committee.

About Andy

Andy Hawes is an attorney, former Boise School Board Trustee, and Director of Land, Water, and Asset Recovery for J.R. Simplot Company.

He was appointed to the Boise School Board in 2021 and elected by Boise voters in 2022 with more than 70 percent of the vote in a contested race.

Andy’s professional background in governance, strategic planning, and asset management gives him practical experience for the financial and facilities decisions facing Boise schools.

For Andy, public education is personal. Boise schools helped shape his life and the lives of his children. He is running to help protect those same opportunities for future Boise students.
